A: Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Drain the cooling system. Remove the engine splash shield. Remove the engine cooling fan. Remove the upper and lower radiator hoses. For V6 models, remove the engine cover and air filter housing. Remove the water inlet assembly, idler pulleys, alternator, air conditioning compressor, and drivebelt tensioner. Remove the water pump mounting bolts and clean the gasket mating surfaces. Install a new gasket and water pump, and a new O-ring on the water pump. Install the water inlet assembly with new O-rings. The remainder of installation is the reverse of removal. Refill the cooling system, run the engine, and check for leaks. For V8 models, remove the timing belt. Disconnect the bypass hose from the water inlet assembly and remove the water inlet. Remove the water pump mounting bolts and separate the pump from the engine block.
