A: To begin with, the EVAP canister purge valve is a component located behind the air filter housing on four-cylinder models and on the left end of the front bank cylinder head on V6 models. To remove it, the engine cover(s) must be removed first, then disconnect the electrical connector and EVAP hoses from the purge valve. The EVAP canister requires raising the vehicle and securely placing it on jack stands. Next, the fuel tank needs to be removed by disconnecting the electrical connector(s) and hoses from the Vapor Canister. The electrical connector from the leak detection pump module also needs to be disconnected. To replace the canister you must loosen the three mounting bolts and any other wiring harnesses. Installation is the reverse of removal. Lastly, the leak detection pump can be removed by following the steps to remove the EVAP canister. Installation is the reverse of removal.
