Q: How to remove and install the hub and bearing assembly on Toyota Corolla?
A: If you want to take off the wheel, then first you have to loosen the lug nuts but don't take off the nuts completely, then you have to lift the vehicle, and then place it on jackstands before taking off the wheel. Subsequently, remove the brake drum and if the model in consideration is equipped with ABS, then refer section the wheel sensor. Then, unbolt four hub-to-axle beam bolts which are subjected behind the brake backing plate and connecting hub and bearing assembly to the rear axle beam. Slowly slide the hub and bearing assembly through the brake assembly noting that it is clear of the seal. If apparently there is some looseness or excessive run out in the hub then the entire hub and bearing should be changed. How to maintain it, the hub and bearing assembly should be positioned on the axle carrier so that the holes in the backing plate correspond to the bolts and after setting of all the bolts they should be tightened to the required torque. Last, the brake drum and ABS sensor if it is applicable shall be reinstalled, the wheel is placed back, the car lowered, and lugs tightened to the standard torque.
