How do you remove and refit the Door Lock and handle on Toyota Echo?

To demount the inner handle, you will have to work on the door inner trim panel, demount the lock handle which requires the FREEING of the locating peg at the edge of the rear side of the car and finally you will see the end of the cable and can be unlocked from the handle. To retract the cable remove the plastic membrane by pulling it and disconnect the cable from the door carrier clip and lastly release the terminal end from the lock mechanism. Refitting can be understood as the process of performing the reverse of the removal steps and fixing the door trim panel back in its place. To the exterior handle you have remove the door inner trim panel, and open up the plastic membrane. On handle styles where the door glass rear guide channel is placed closely to the rear edge of the door glass, both the guide channel and possibly the rear lock assembly may have to be removed in order to get to and replace the rear portion of a 5-door rear door end cover. With a screwdriver, one then unclips the exterior handle and lock barrel, making a channel to slide the link rods slightly without much shifting. Remove the two bolts accessible on the interior sides of the handle and take out the handle assembly with the lock barrel for the front door. Refitting is done in the reverse sequence, so that the handle and the lock barrel turn in their proper manner before the trim panel is refitted. To access the front lock barrel unbolt the exterior handle and unthread the one and only mounting bolt to pull out the lock barrel from the handle; reverse to install. For the front lock, you need to remove the door trim panel, and peel off the plastic memorial, and then detach the knob from the door lock pop up button, and remove a locating peg from the door lock interior handle, and unbend the cable end from the handle and the door lock operating cable. To access it, the door window rear guide channel has to be detached and this is done by clipping at the top then there is a bolt at the lower end. The lock is secured by three screws on the back edge of the door, and on models with central locking, guy should pull the wiring plug out from the lock before taking it out. Refitting includes using oil on the members of the lock assembly, applying acetone on the screws and applying volatile substance on the lock operation and replacing the door trim. To dismantle the rear lock, door trim panel has to be unplugged, the plastic membrane has to be detached, knob to be unscrewed from the door lock pop-up button, interior handle has been unclipped by releasing the locating peg for door lock interior handle and connection of the cable end has been unhooked from the interior. Pull the door lock operating cable and the door lock button link rod from the clip in the door next, and take out the door glass rear guide channel to have more space. Take a screwdriver and carefully unscrew the exterior handle and lock button link rods from the link piece of black plastic. Located at the back of the door, one has to undo three screws before removing the lock; for models that come with central locking system, one will have to pull out the wiring plug before undoing the lock. Refitting involves greasing the lock assembly, washing and putting some thread-locking material on the screws and as well examining the working of the lock mechanism then finally reinstalling the door trim panel.
