How to remove, inspect, and install the control arm on Toyota Prius?

To carry out this process, it is required to loosen the wheel lug nuts from the side of the car that is to be disassembled concerning the control arm. After that, engage the parking break then jack up the front part of the car, place jackstands firmly beneath and then take out the wheel. Next, disconnect the ball joint from the control arm and unbolt the ones that hold the control arm to the subframe, while on the 2004 to 2009 models, one may have to lower the subframe assembly to be able to access the back mounting bolt and nut conveniently. Subsequently, we take off the control arm. For inspection, check for distortion in control arm and wear in the bushings and replace such parts that are worn out; never bend the control arm back into shape when it is bent. For installation, go in the reverse manner as which they were removed, and tighten up all the bolts, but do not final tighten the front pivot bolt till the outer end of the control arm is lifted up with the help of a floor jack to the normal height as used while riding. Lastly, fit the wheel and the lug nuts and then lower the car before you tighten the lug nuts, it will be wise to check the front end alignment after doing the job.
