Toyota Sienna Door Handle Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to remove and install the door Latch, lock cylinder, and handle on Toyota Sienna?
A: To replace the door latch, first raise the window and remove the door trim panel and watershield. For 2003 and earlier models, work through the large access hole to disengage the outside door handle-to-latch rod, outside door lock-to-latch rod, and inside handle-to-latch rod, noting that all door lock rods are attached by plastic clips that can be unsnapped for removal. For models with power door locks, disconnect the electrical connectors at the latch. Next, remove the screws securing the latch to the door and take out the latch assembly through the door opening, with installation being the reverse of removal. To remove the outside handle and lock cylinder assembly, again raise the window and remove the door trim panel and watershield, taking care not to scratch the paint on the door. For 2003 and earlier models, disengage the plastic clips securing the outside door lock-to-latch rod and the bolts holding the lock and handle assembly, noting that the handle can be unbolted and pulled toward the outside of the door for easier access. For 2004 and later models, remove the outside handle cover by pushing it rearward, disconnect the bottom of the lock rod, and remove the handle mounting bolt from inside the door before sliding the handle out. After removing the handle and lock cylinder assembly from the vehicle, the lock cylinder can be detached from the handle assembly by removing a clip or unbolting the electrical connector. For the inside door handle, applicable only to 2007 and earlier models, raise the window and remove the door trim panel and watershield, then remove one bolt and pull the handle out to access and disconnect the two linkage rods, with installation being the reverse of removal.
