How do you check and replace the turn signal switch/headlight switch on 1995 through 2004 Toyota Tacoma?

Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery, ensuring that the lockout feature of the anti-theft audio system is turned off if applicable. Disable the airbag system and remove the steering wheel along with the steering column covers. Unplug the electrical connector from the turn signal switch/headlight switch. For T100 models, use an ohmmeter to check the continuity of the switch terminals: there should be no continuity in the "neutral" position, continuity between terminals 3 and 9 in the "left turn" position, and continuity between terminals 3 and 8 in the "right turn" position. If the switch does not operate, replace it. For Tacoma and 4Runner models, check the continuity similarly: no continuity in the "neutral" position, continuity between terminals 1 and 2 in the "left turn" position, and continuity between terminals 2 and 3 in the "right turn" position. If the switch does not operate, replace it. To replace, detach the turn signal switch/headlight switch from the switch body by removing the two screws, and installation is the reverse of removal, ensuring the spiral cable is correctly centered before installing the steering wheel.

To replace, detach the turn signal switch/headlight switch from the switch body by removing the two screws, and installation is the reverse of removal, ensuring the spiral cable is correctly centered before installing the steering wheel.
