    Q:
How to replace and test the CKP sensor on Toyota Rav4? Posted by Customer
    A:
The sensor is mounted on the timing chain cover next to the crankshaft pulley. To replace it, ensure the ignition key is in the Off position, then work under the vehicle to remove the inner fender shield. Disconnect the CKP sensor electrical connector, remove the bolt, and detach the sensor. Installation follows the reverse order of removal, and if reusing the old sensor, check the O-ring for damage and replace if necessary. For testing, disconnect the CKP sensor connector and use a digital volt/ohm meter set to measure resistance between the two terminals of the CKP sensor. With the engine cold (14 to 122 degrees-F), resistance should be between 1630 to 2740 ohms, and with the engine hot (122 to 212 degrees-F), it should be between 2065 to 3225 ohms. If the resistance value does not fall within the specified ranges for the appropriate temperature, the sensor should be replaced.

    Q:
How do you access the CKP sensor on the 2014 Toyota Highlander? Posted by Customer
    A:
On 2GR-FKS models, raise the right side of the vehicle on jackstands, remove the left exhaust manifold, engine oil cooler hose bracket nut, and sensor shield bolts. Slide out the bracket from under the oil cooler hoses, disconnect the sensor's electrical connector, remove the sensor, and apply clean engine oil to the O-ring before reinstalling and tightening the retaining bolt securely. By following these steps, you can effectively access and work with the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensors on both four-cylinder and V6 models.
