To reassemble the strut and spring assembly: If replacing the lower insulator, set it into position with the dropped portion seated in the lowest part of the seat. Extend the damper rod and install the rubber bumper. Place the coil spring onto the lower insulator, ensuring the end fits into the recessed portion of the lower seat. Install the upper insulator and spring seat, aligning the flats on the damper shaft with the flats in the spring seat. Align the "OUT" mark on the upper spring seat with the mark on the upper insulator. For front struts, ensure the arrow on the spring seat faces toward the lower bracket. For rear struts, position the suspension support with the pointed part facing out and the hole centered on the strut bracket. Install the dust seal and suspension support to the damper shaft. Install the nut and tighten it to the specified torque. Remove the spring compressor tool. Finally, install the strut spring assembly.

Check the lower insulator for wear, cracking, and hardness, and replace it if necessary.

Loosen the rear wheel lug nuts, raise the rear of the vehicle, and support it securely on jackstands. Then, remove the wheel.

If any undesirable conditions exist, proceed to the strut disassembly procedure.

After removing the rear seat and package tray trim panel, the next step is to loosen the rear wheel lug nuts.

For models equipped with electronic modulated suspension, the following steps should be taken: Remove the shock absorber cap. Disconnect the shock absorber wiring harness. If the strut is to be disassembled, loosen, but do not remove, the damper shaft nut.
