    Q:
How to inspect and replace the drivebelt on Toyota Tacoma? Posted by Customer
    A:
The drivebelt is located at the front of the engine and is prone to failure over time. It should be inspected periodically for any signs of damage, such as severed core, separation of adhesive rubber, or cracks in the ribs. If any of these conditions are present, the belt should be replaced. To replace the belt, the automatic tensioner must be released. For four-cylinder engines, rotate the tensioner clockwise, and for V6 engines, rotate it counterclockwise. Once the tension is released, remove the old belt and install the new one, making sure it is centered on all pulleys. If working on a V6 engine, lock the tensioner before installing the new belt. To replace the tensioner itself, remove the drivebelt and any necessary components, such as the alternator or air conditioning compressor. Then, remove the tensioner mounting fasteners and replace the tensioner. Finally, reassemble all components and tighten the fasteners to the specified torque.
