To reassemble the driveaxle, the splines on the inner end of the axleshaft should be wrapped with tape, the clamps and boots should be slid onto the axleshaft, and the tripod should be placed on the shaft. Grease should be applied to the tripod assembly and inside the housing, the tripod should be inserted into the housing, and the remainder of the grease should be packed around the tripod. The boots should be slid into place, the driveaxle should be adjusted to standard length specifications, the pressure in the boot should be equalized, and the boot clamps should be tightened.

Inspect the driveaxle boots for tears, cracks, and loose clamps. Replace any boots with evidence of cracks or leaking lubricant.
