The Active Control Engine Mount operates using a Vacuum Switching Valve (VSV) that utilizes engine vacuum to vibrate a diaphragm within the mount. This vibration is then transferred to a liquid inside the mount, which in turn transfers the vibration to the mount's rubber pad, effectively canceling out the engine vibration.

It is crucial to replace broken or deteriorated engine mounts immediately to prevent damage or wear on the driveline components.

To check the engine mounts, you should raise the vehicle and securely support it on jackstands. Position a jack under the engine oil pan and place a large block of wood between the jack head and the oil pan. Raise the engine slightly to remove the weight from the mounts. Do not position the wood block under the drain plug. Then, visually inspect the mounts for signs of damage and use a large screwdriver or pry bar to check for any movement. If movement is observed, lower the engine and tighten the mount fasteners. Applying rubber preservative to the mounts can help slow down deterioration.

The rear mount on V6 models has a different engine mounting bracket that cradles the insulator. It is retained by a through-bolt to the chassis bracket.
