To replace the latch, first scribe a line around it for alignment, then detach the retaining bolts from the radiator support and remove the latch. Disconnect the hood cable from the Hood Latch assembly. For installation, reverse the removal steps, ensuring the latch is adjusted so the hood engages securely when closed and the bumpers are slightly compressed. To replace the cable, disconnect it from the latch assembly and attach a piece of stiff wire to the end of the cable, then trace it back to the firewall, detaching all retaining clips. In the passenger compartment, detach the screws securing the hood release lever, lift the lever, and remove the retaining screws. Pull the cable and grommet rearward until the wire is visible, then ensure the new cable has a grommet attached, remove the old cable, and replace it with the new one. From the engine compartment, pull the wire back through the firewall. For installation, reverse the removal steps, pushing on the grommet from the passenger compartment to seat it correctly in the firewall.
