Q:
How to repair the air conditioning system in a Toyota Tacoma? Posted by Customer
A:
To repair the air conditioning system in a vehicle, start by taking it to a shop to have the refrigerant recovered and the system discharged. Then, remove the drive belt and engine cooling fan. Loosen the left front wheel lug nuts and raise the front of the vehicle on jack stands. Remove the engine splash shield, left front wheel, and inner fender splash shield. Take off the engine cover and alternator. Disconnect the electrical connector and refrigerant lines from the compressor. Unbolt the compressor and guide it out from under the vehicle. If installing a new compressor, adjust the oil level according to the manufacturer's instructions. To complete the installation, reverse the removal steps and replace any 0-rings with new ones designed for your system's refrigerant. Lubricate the new 0-rings with refrigerant oil specific to your system. Finally, have the system evacuated, recharged, and leak tested.
