To remove and install an oil cooler on an engine, first, drain the engine oil and coolant, and remove the engine cover. Disconnect the oil cooler hoses from the oil cooler, and remove the union bolt to separate the oil cooler from the oil filter adapter. Be sure to plug the lines to prevent leakage and install a new 0-ring and plate washer during installation. Tighten the union bolt to the proper torque specifications, install a new oil filter, and refill the engine with oil and the cooling system with the proper type and concentration of antifreeze. Check for coolant leakage and proper gauge function.
