To remove the spare tire, spare tire guard, and luggage trim panel, start by removing the clutch master cylinder cap and float and then remove the fluid from the reservoir tank using a syringe or pump. Inside the passenger compartment, remove the clevis pin clip and the clevis pin from the clevis and clutch pedal. Disconnect the clutch line tube banjo bolt and remove the two master cylinder mounting nuts to pull the master cylinder from the firewall and remove it from the vehicle. To overhaul the master cylinder, remove the nut in the bottom of the reservoir tank and separate the tank from the master cylinder. Pull back the boot, remove the snap ring, and pull out the push rod. Tap the master cylinder gently against a block of wood to extract the piston, and wash the master cylinder in clean solvent. Inspect the master cylinder bore for damage and coat the parts with lithium soap base glycol grease or brake fluid. Insert the piston into the cylinder, install the push rod assembly, and secure it with the snap ring. Install the reservoir tank and tighten the nut securely. For installation, mount the master cylinder onto the firewall and tighten the mounting nuts, connect the clutch line tube banjo bolt and tighten it securely with new crush washers. Insert the clevis pin through the clevis and clutch pedal and secure it with the clip. Fill the clutch reservoir tank with brake fluid and bleed the clutch system. Finally, install the luggage trim panel, spare tire guard, and spare tire, check for leaks, and adjust the clutch pedal if necessary.
