To overhaul the master cylinder, remove the nut in the bottom of the reservoir tank and separate the tank from the master cylinder. Pull back the boot, remove the snap ring, and pull out the push rod. Tap the master cylinder gently against a block of wood to extract the piston, and wash the master cylinder in clean solvent. Inspect the master cylinder bore for damage and coat the parts with lithium soap base glycol grease or brake fluid. Insert the piston into the cylinder, install the push rod assembly, and secure it with the snap ring. Install the reservoir tank and tighten the nut securely.
