    Q:
Should you always replace both wheel cylinders at the same time on 2002 through 2008 Toyota Solara? Posted by Customer
    A:
Never replace only one wheel cylinder; always replace both at the same time. To begin, raise the rear of the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands, blocking the front wheels to prevent rolling. Remove the brake shoe assembly and clean all dirt and foreign material from around the wheel cylinder. Use a flare-nut wrench to disconnect the brake line, unscrewing the hydraulic line-to-wheel cylinder threaded fitting and then removing the mounting bolts without pulling the brake line away. Next, remove the wheel cylinder mounting bolts, detach the wheel cylinder from the brake backing plate, and place it on a clean workbench, immediately plugging the brake line to prevent fluid loss and contamination. For installation, position the new wheel cylinder and install the bolts finger tight, then connect the brake line carefully to avoid cross-threading the fitting and tighten the wheel cylinder bolts to the specified torque. After that, tighten the brake line fitting and reinstall the brake shoes and drum. Bleed the brakes, install the wheel and lug nuts, lower the vehicle to the ground, and tighten the lug nuts to the specified torque. Finally, check the operation of the brakes carefully before driving the vehicle.
