After bench bleeding the new master cylinder, the bleed tubes should be removed and plugs should be installed in the open ports to prevent fluid leakage and air from entering. The booster pushrod length should be adjusted if installing a new master cylinder and a new O-ring should be installed on the master cylinder body.

Start by removing the cover from the air filter housing and unplugging the electrical connector for the brake fluid level warning switch. If the vehicle has a manual transaxle, disconnect the fluid line connecting the brake master cylinder reservoir to the clutch master cylinder. Remove as much fluid as possible from the reservoir and clamp off the fluid feed hose to the clutch master cylinder if necessary. Loosen the fittings at the ends of the brake lines where they enter the master cylinder using a flare-nut wrench. Pull the brake lines away from the master cylinder and plug the ends. Remove the nuts attaching the master cylinder to the power booster and carefully pull the master cylinder off the studs.
