The air filter should be replaced and inspected regularly as part of maintenance. The filter housing is on the right side of the engine for four cylinder and 3.4L V6 engines, and on the left for 3.0L V6 engines. To remove the filter, detach the cover clips and any obstructing hoses. Avoid dropping anything into the assembly while the cover is off. The filter can be lifted out and the housing cleaned. If the filter is dirty, replace it. If moderately dusty, clean it with compressed air. Never wash or oil the filter. Never drive without the air cleaner to avoid engine wear or potential fire. Install the new filter in the housing, ensuring it fits properly, then replace the cover.
