Before pulling the tie-rod end, it is necessary to unscrew the wheel lug nuts, lift the front end of the car, securely jack up the car using jack stands, and block the rear wheels as well as engage the Parking lock before a removal of the front wheel. Next, remove the cotter pin or clip and slacken the nut on the tie-rod end stud while swinging the tie rod away from the brake. Put on locking pliers or a wrench to keep your tie-rod firmly in place while turning the center of the thread of the jam nut enough to be able to align a '0' mark on the rod to the untwisted end of the threads on the tie-rod end. Lose the nut using a wrench, then separate the tie-rod from the steering knuckle arm by applying a puller to the component to prevent damage. Loose the nut on the tie-rod and remove the tie-rod end from it. For installation, run the tie-rod end though the marked position and place the tie-rod stud through the steering knuckle arm then tighten the jam nut. Place the castle nut with the right-threaded-end on the stud, and so tighten it; add a fresh cotter pin, making sure the hole in it lines up with one of the slots in the nut. Last of it, fit the wheel and the lug nuts, raise the vehicle, torque the lug nuts, and check the alignment and adjust if required.
