    Q:
How to remove and install driveplates and flywheels in V6 engine on 2005 through 2009 Toyota Tacoma? Posted by Customer
    A:
For the automatic transmissions, there use driveplates also referred to as the flexplates while for manual transmissions there use flywheels. To start the removal process, first, remove the cable connected to the negative terminal of the battery, then lift the vehicle and properly place some jackstands and then remove the transmission. For those carts that are fitted with manuals, strip off the clutch setup. To ensure correct alignment when the flywheel or driveplate and crankshaft are replaced, mark them while being removed. Take out the bolts holding the flywheel/driveplate to crankshaft, for which apply a screwdriver by slotting in the ring gear to stop it turning if it has to be done. If you haven't already done so, remove the flywheel or the driveplate from the crankshaft be very careful with it as you take the last bolt, see Fig. 10.27 Accessories of Automatic transmissions This model has spacers on both sides of the driveplate, see Fig. 10.24 and Table 10.3, Transmission dimensional data. Next in installation, clean the flywheel or the driveplate on the surface to remove grease and oil and ensure that it does not have crack on the outer covers and also tries to see whether the ring gear teeth are cracked or broken. Scrub or peel off the mating surfaces of the flywheel or driveplate and the crankshaft and replacing the crankshaft rear seal if it is worn or leaking before fitting. Insert the flywheel or driveplate to the crankshaft and make sure that all the alignments that were made during its removal are as they should be fixed correctly either by an alignment dowel or any crank that has staggered bolt holes. Put some anti-seize on the bolt threads before installing the nuts, jam a screw-driver between the ring gear teeth in order to stop it from rotating and then tighten the bolts diagonally before going through the entire cycle in stages-three to four at most. The rest of the installation is a reversal of the above removal process, which translates to carefully following the steps of removing the installation to uninstall it.

    A:
