    Q:
How does the intake camshaft sprocket actuator assembly function for the 2010 Toyota Prius? Posted by Customer
    A:
The intake camshaft sprocket actuator assembly has an inner hub attached to the camshaft, consisting of fixed vanes. Oil pressure acts as a wedge against these vanes, causing the camshaft to rotate. Higher oil pressure results in more rotation, advancing or retarding the camshaft.

    Q:
What are the steps for removing components in the 2006 Toyota Prius? Posted by Customer
    A:
    1. Remove the cowl and the valve cover. 2. With the parking brake applied and the shifter in Park, loosen the lug nuts of the right front wheel, then raise the front of the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. Remove the wheel. 3. Remove the interfering covers, including the engine lower cover and the right wheel well cover. 4. Disconnect and label all interfering wiring, including the CKP sensor and the oil pressure switch. 5. Put a block of wood on a floor jack and put the jack under the oil pan. Jack the engine up enough to remove weight from the mounts. Remove the right upper engine mount assembly. 6. Set the engine to TDC on the compression stroke for number one cylinder. 7. Remove the crankshaft vibration damper. If the crankshaft rotates during this operation, reset it at TDC before proceeding. 8. Remove the two nuts from the timing chain tensioner plate. Remove the tensioner assembly. 9. Remove the engine mount bracket and the oil filter bracket from the timing cover. Remove the two O-rings from under the oil filter bracket. 10. Remove the 18 timing cover bolts. Lay them out in order so they can all be installed in the same positions. Remove the sealing washer from the forward middle section of the cover. 11. Use a screwdriver wrapped with tape to gently and evenly pry off the timing cover. Remove the three O-rings from the front of the block. 12. Remove the timing chain tensioner shoe and the vibration damper/guides. 13. Put a wrench onto the flat on the forward camshaft and turn it counterclockwise to allow slack between the camshaft sprockets. Remove the main timing chain. 14. Remove the sprocket from the crankshaft. 15. Temporarily install the crankshaft damper and hold it in order to remove the nut from the front of the oil pump. 16. Remove the oil pump chain tensioner assembly. 17. Remove the oil pump drive chain along with both sprockets.
