    What is the procedure for loosening the bolt holding the lock cylinder and outside handle cover for the 2004 Toyota Avalon? Posted by Customer

    Remove an access plug at the rear of the door (cabin side) and use a Torx socket through the hole to loosen the bolt holding the lock cylinder and outside handle cover. Remove the rubber plug at the end of the door and use a tool through the hole to loosen the lock cylinder bolt (the bolt does not come out). Slide the handle rearward and out, and the handle will come off.

    To remove the outside handle assembly, first, remove the handle assembly exterior mounting screw from the outside of the door. Then, from inside the door, disconnect the electrical connector, remove the mounting screw, and disconnect the lock rod clip. Finally, disengage the door handle assembly mounting clips and remove the handle assembly from the vehicle.
