    Q:
How should the rear hub and bearing be inspected, removed, and refitted on Toyota Yaris? Posted by Customer
    A:
The rear hub and bearing are a sealed unit, and if the rear bearings are worn, a new hub must be fitted. On models with ABS, the rear wheel sensor is attached to the hub and can be removed and fitted to the new unit, although this task is best handled by a Toyota dealer. The rear hub bearings are non-adjustable. To check for excessive wear, chock the front wheels, jack up the rear of the vehicle, and support it on axle stands while fully releasing the handbrake. Grip the rear wheel at the top and bottom and attempt to rock it; excessive movement or roughness when spinning the wheel indicates worn hub bearings. To remove the hub, loosen the rear wheel nuts, chock the front wheels, jack up the rear, and support it on axle stands before removing the rear wheel. After removing the brake drum, inspect the rear brake components and wheel cylinder for wear and leakage. For models with ABS, disconnect the wiring plug for the rear wheel sensor using a small screwdriver. Loosen the four bolts securing the hub and brake backplate to the trailing arm, support the hub and backplate, and remove the bolts to withdraw the hub through the rear shoe assembly. Temporarily refit the bolts to hang the backplate and cable-tie it to the trailing arm to prevent straining the brake pipe and handbrake cable. Refitting is the reverse of removal, with specific attention to transferring the rear wheel sensor to a new hub by a Toyota dealer if applicable, cleaning corrosion from mating surfaces, applying copper grease for easier future removal, and tightening all fixings to the specified torque before refitting the brake drum.

    Q:
How can the bearing be fully pressed into the hub carrier for the 2009 Toyota Yaris? Posted by Customer
    A:
The hub carrier bearing housing has a flange, allowing the bearing to be pressed in until fully home. Once the bearing is in place, refit the bearing retaining circlip.

    Q:
What are the steps for removing the rear hub for the 2010 Toyota Yaris? Posted by Customer
    A:
    1. Loosen the rear wheel nuts, then chock the front wheels (or engage a gear). Jack up the rear of the car, and support it on axle stands. Remove the rear wheel. 2. Remove the brake drum. While the drum is removed, it would make sense to inspect the rear brake components for wear, and the wheel cylinder for signs of fluid leakage. 3. On models with ABS, disconnect the wiring plug for the rear wheel sensor from the back of the hub. A small screwdriver is useful to release the wiring plug catch. 4. Loosen the four bolts securing the hub (and brake backplate) to the trailing arm. Support the hub and backplate, and remove the four bolts. Withdraw the hub through the rear shoe assembly. 5. Temporarily refit the four bolts to hang the backplate onto, and cable-tie the backplate to the trailing arm, to prevent straining the brake pipe and handbrake cable.

    Q:
I need a left rear wheel bearing hub assembly for my 2009 Toyota Yaris. It has ABS, and a code saying that the ABS sensor of the LR wheel has foreign object attached to it. I found two parts with the same name. One is 42410-52070, the other is 4245052061. They both shows as "Wheel Bearing and Hub (Left, Right, Rear)", but the second is more expensive. What is the difference? Which one has ABS sensor and should I buy? Posted by Customer: 2009 Toyota Yaris
    A:
    Correct number is 42450-52060
