Due to the specialized tools needed, it is recommended that a home mechanic does not disassemble the hub and bearing assembly. However, the assembly can be removed and taken to a dealer service department or repair shop for the bearing replacement. To remove the assembly, loosen the wheel lug nuts, raise and stabilize the vehicle on jack stands, and remove the wheel. The brake drum or disc should then be pulled from the hub, and the four hub-to-axle carrier bolts should be removed by turning the hub flange to expose each bolt. Maneuver the hub and bearing assembly through the brake assembly. For installation, the old O-ring on the hub seat should be replaced with a new one. The Wheel Hub should be positioned on the axle carrier, aligning the holes in the backing plate, and the bolts should be installed and tightened. Install the brake drum/disc and wheel, take down the vehicle, and tighten the lug nuts.

The steering knuckle and hub can be detached and brought to a dealer service department or another repair shop.
