    Q:
What is the recommended approach for pressing the front hub and bearing from the steering knuckle on Toyota Celica? Posted by Customer
    A:
Due to the complexity and specialized tools needed, it is recommended to entrust the task of pressing the hub and bearing from the steering knuckle to a professional mechanic. However, if necessary, the steering knuckle and Wheel Hub can be detached and brought to a dealer service department or another repair shop for the assembly to be addressed.

    Q:
What is the procedure for front hub removal and wheel bearing replacement on Toyota MR2? Posted by Customer
    A:
Several special Toyota service tools are called for in this procedure; however, certain standard tools, such as a two-jaw puller and a slide hammer, can be used in their place. To remove the front hub, begin by loosening the wheel lug nuts without removing them, then raise the front of the vehicle and secure it on jackstands. Remove the tire and wheel assembly, followed by the caliper mounting bolts and the caliper, which should be hung out of the way with a piece of wire. Next, remove the brake disc and check bearing play in the axial direction using a dial indicator, ensuring the play limit does not exceed 0.05 mm (0.0020 in). Disconnect the stabilizer link at the bottom, then remove the cotter pin and nut from the tie-rod end, followed by the two bolts from the steering knuckle to separate the balljoint and tie-rod end. Use a two-jaw puller to disconnect the tie-rod end from the steering knuckle. If reusing the same hub and bearing assembly, paint marks on the lower strut bracket and camber adjust cam for reassembly before removing the hub assembly. If the bearing check indicates play greater than specified, replace the bearing. Line vise jaws with wood blocks to protect the assembly and clamp the steering knuckle in the vice, then use a screwdriver and hammer to remove the hub bearing cap and O-ring. Clamp the axle hub in a vise, being careful not to over-tighten, and use a hammer and chisel to loosen the staked part of the nut and remove the locknut. Remove the disc brake dust cover and use a two-jaw puller to take out the axle hub from the steering knuckle. A slide hammer is needed to remove the oil seal from the steering knuckle, followed by taking out the wheel bearing snap ring. Use a two-jaw puller to remove the hub bearing inner race from the hub, then install the new hub bearing inner race to the steering knuckle as a guide and drive out the hub bearing using an appropriate size socket. Reassembly of the axle hub is the reverse of the removal process, ensuring to tap a new oil seal into the steering knuckle and coat the oil seal lip with multi-purpose grease. For front hub installation, loosely fasten the steering knuckle to the lower arm, connect it to the lower strut bracket, and insert the bolts while aligning the match marks on the camber adjusting cam, tightening the nuts to the specified torque. Connect the tie-rod end to the steering knuckle, tightening the castle nut to the specified torque and securing it with a new cotter pin. Complete the installation by reversing the removal procedure, tightening all connections to the specified torque, replacing the wheels, finger-tightening the wheel lug nuts, lowering the vehicle, and finally tightening the lug nuts. It is advised that the vehicle be driven to a dealer or alignment shop to check the front wheel alignment.
