Loosen the wheel lug nuts, raise the vehicle, and support it securely on jackstands before removing the wheel. Next, remove the cotter pin from the balljoint stud and loosen the nut without removing it completely. Use a picklefork-type balljoint separator to separate the balljoint from the steering knuckle, then remove the balljoint stud nut, carefully alternating between backing off the nut and pulling down the stud due to the tight clearance with the CV joint. After that, remove the bolt and nuts securing the balljoint to the control arm, and use a prybar to separate the balljoint from the control arm. For installation, insert the balljoint stud through the hole in the steering knuckle and install the nut without tightening it yet; thread the nut onto the stud as soon as it protrudes through the hole, then turn the nut to draw the stud up. Attach the balljoint to the control arm, install the bolt and nuts, and tighten them to the specified torque. Finally, tighten the balljoint stud nut to the specified torque and install a new cotter pin, ensuring the cotter pin hole aligns with the slots on the nut; if not, tighten the nut further without loosening it. Install the wheel and lug nuts, lower the vehicle, and tighten the lug nuts to the specified torque.

Nut on the wheel lugs need to be loosened and the car needs to lifted off the ground and supported by brackets before having the wheel removed. Thirdly, take out the cotter pin from the balljoint stud and slacken the nut but do not undo it fully; do the same with the lower balljoint. Insert a picklefork-type ball joint separator between the balljont and the steering knuckle, and either screw the nut back off or push down on the stud until it snaps free. First, unbolt the ball joint from the control arm-there are three bolts/nuts-and then shove a pry bar in the middle of the ball joint and pull it out of the control arm. For installation, force the balljoint stud through the hole in the steering knuckle and set in place the nut without tightening it; turn the nut as soon as it emerges at the other end and afterward tighten the nut to draw the stud up. Place the balljoint to the control arm, screw in the bolt and nuts and tighten them to the desired level. Lastly, torque the balljoin stud nut to the needed specifications and replace the cotter pin; the hole in the cotter pin should be positioned over the slots provided in the nut; if it is not the case, turning the nut should compensate this. Again, fix the wheel and lug nuts in place, raise the car and then finally tighten the lug nuts.
