Relax the wheel lug nuts, lift the car, and put it on a jack stand before you can remove the wheel. Next, remove the cotter pin on the balljoint stud and then twist off the nut on the stud but does not remove it. To free the balljoint from the steering knuckle, use the picklefork-type balljoint separator Since both the balljoint stud and the nut are quite tight in their 'V' joint configuration, what you need to do is to turn the nut, while at the same time pulling down the stud. Next, unscrew the bolt and nuts which are used to hold the ball joint connected to the control arm and further use a pry bar to detach the ball joint for the control arm. For installation, pass the balljoint the stud through the hole in the steering knuckle then fix with the nut, fix the ball joint on the control arm with the bolt and nuts and tighten them. Last but not the least, progressively tighten the balljoint stud nut and then fit a new cotter pin in its respective hole if the position of the cotter pin hole does not match with that of the slots of the nut then turn the nut further without loosening up the same. For the final step, had to fit the wheel and the lug nuts then dropped the car and finally tighten the lug nuts again.
