    Q:
How to remove and reinstall the Mass Airflow (MAF) sensor on 2007 through 2015 Toyota Avalon? Posted by Customer
    A:
The Mass Air Flow Sensor, technology that measures the amount of air entering the engine, is typically located on the air intake duct. Before starting, ensure that the ignition key is in the OFF position to prevent any injury or accidents. To remove it, first disconnect the electrical connector. Then, unscrew the retaining bolts. Remove the MAF sensor. To perform an installation, you can simply follow the exact opposite steps that were taken during the removal process.

    Q:
What is the location and function of the Mass Airflow (MAF) sensor on Toyota Prius? Posted by Customer
    A:
The Mass Airflow (MAF) sensor is located on the air filter housing above the throttle body and calculates the amount of air that is entering the engine. The ECM receives this voltage signal to in order to deduce the pulse width of the fuel injector and control the injectors. In the event that there is a problem with the signal in the MAF sensor circuit, a DTC will be set. First before performing the series of steps, the ignition key must be off or the power switch off and the cable must be disconnected with the negative terminal of the auxiliary 12-volt battery then the initialization process must be done upon reconnecting the cable. Thirdly release the electrical connector of the MAF sensor by pinching on the tab then uncrew and pull out the MAF sensor from the air filter housing. Subsequently, unscrew the two screws to eliminate the MAF sensor with O-ring from the casing. The process of installation is the reverse of removal so as to guarantee replacement of a new O-ring.
