To check the wiper motor circuit, begin by examining the wiring diagrams for wire colors and locations. For voltage verification, use a grounded volt test light on each terminal at a connector until it lights up. If wipers operate slowly, ensure the battery is in good condition and fully charged; if so, remove the wiper motor and manually operate the wiper arms to check for binding in the linkage and pivots, lubricating or repairing as needed before reinstalling the motor. If wipers still operate slowly, inspect for loose or corroded connections, particularly the ground, and replace the motor if connections are intact. If wipers do not activate, check the fuse in the driver's side interior fuse panel; if the fuse is fine, connect a jumper wire between the wiper motor's ground terminal and ground, then retest. If the motor operates, repair the ground connection; if not, check for voltage at the motor with the wiper switch in the HI position, removing the cowl cover for access. If voltage is present, remove the motor and test it off the vehicle with fused jumper wires from the battery. If it works, check for binding linkage; if not, replace the motor. If there is no voltage to the motor, check the wiper control relays, and if voltage is present at the relays but not at the motor, test the switch. For inoperative interval function, check the continuity of wiring between the switch and wiper control module. If wipers fail to park, check for voltage at the park feed wire of the wiper motor connector when the switch is OFF but ignition is ON, and inspect for an open circuit between the wiper motor and fuse panel. For replacement, disconnect the negative terminal of the auxiliary 12-volt battery and perform the initialization procedure upon reconnection. Remove the covers over the wiper arm mounting nuts, mark the relationship of the arms to the shafts, and lever off the wiper arms. Remove the cowl rubber seal, then for 2001 through 2003 models, remove the cowl cover, disconnect the wiper motor electrical connector, and remove the wiper assembly by taking out the five retaining bolts. For 2004 through 2009 models, follow similar steps to remove the cowl cover and wiper assembly, disconnecting the wiring harness and removing the crank arm after marking positions. For 2010 and later models, remove the left and right vents, pull off the cowl, disconnect the electrical connector, and remove the wiper assembly. For the rear wiper motor in 2009 and earlier models, remove the tailgate trim panel, wiper arm assembly, and electrical connector before removing the motor. In 2010 and later models, carefully pry off the interior trim panels, remove the wiper arm nut, disconnect the electrical connector, and remove the motor, with installation being the reverse of removal.
