Toyota 23220-19015 Fuel Pump Assembly

Start the engine, detach the vacuum sensing hose from the fuel pressure regulator, and measure the fuel pressure again.

1. Remove the rear seat cushion and floor service hole cover. 2. Remove the fuel union bolt and gaskets, disconnect the outlet pipe, then remove the eight retaining bolts and lift the fuel pump and bracket assembly out of the tank. 3. Remove the fuel gauge sending unit nut and washer, disconnect the wires, then remove the two screws and detach the sending unit. 4. Disconnect the two wires, pull the lower end of the pump out of the bracket, detach the fuel hose, and remove the pump from the bracket. 5. Remove the rubber cushion from the lower end of the fuel pump. 6. Remove the clip securing the filter to the pump. 7. Pull out the filter and inspect it for contamination. If it is dirty, replace it. 8. Install the new filter, the clip, and the rubber cushion, push the lower end of the pump back into the bracket, and install the pump/bracket assembly in the fuel tank. 9. Install the fuel gauge sending unit to the pump bracket and connect the wires. The remainder of installation is the reverse of removal.

Remove the clip securing the filter to the pump, pry off the clip holding the strainer to the fuel pump, and pull the strainer loose from the pump. Replace the clip if it is a loose fit.
