To remove the water pump, start by draining the cooling system and removing the engine drive belt. Support the right end of the engine with a floor jack, remembering to place a block of wood on the jack head to protect the oil pan, and remove the right-side engine mount and bracket from the engine. Prevent the pulley from turning by placing a screwdriver through one of its holes, then remove the three pulley bolts and the pulley itself. Next, remove the fasteners retaining the water pump to the engine block and remove the water pump, ensuring to note the length and position of the bolts as they were originally installed. For the next part, disconnect the wiring harness, then remove the three bolts and the inlet air filter assembly. Once again, drain the engine coolant, disconnect the wiring from the water pump, remove the five mounting bolts, and then pull the water pump from the timing chain cover, making sure to discard the gasket O-ring. When installing the water pump, start by cleaning all sealing surfaces thoroughly and replacing the gasket with a new one. Install the fasteners in their original positions and tighten them to the proper torque specifications. Proceed to install the remaining parts in the reverse order of removal, refill the cooling system, run the engine, and check for leaks and proper operation. The installation of the next component follows the same process as its removal: replace the gasket O-ring with a new one and tighten the bolts to the proper torque specifications.
