For 2GR-FKS engines, you need to disconnect the low-pressure side fuel delivery line and connect a special service tool between the connections.

For 2007 RX 350 and all 2008 and later models, the components of the fuel pump assembly are modular and attached to the main housing. To remove the fuel level sending unit, disconnect the electrical connector and pry it from the clips. To remove the fuel pump, disconnect the electrical connector from the mounting flange, remove the spring E-clip, release the claw connectors from the sub-tank, separate the fuel suction support base, release the claw connectors and separate the fuel pump assembly, disconnect and remove the fuel pump electrical harness, and pull the fuel pump up and out from the filter assembly. Remove the O-ring and spacer from the fuel pump, and inspect the strainer for contamination.

Inspect it for contamination and clean if necessary.

After installing the lifter during the fuel pump installation, the spacer gasket and lifter guide should be placed onto the valve cover, aligning the fuel pump bolt holes.
