Discharge the refrigerant at a dealer or repair facility. The A/C accumulator is in the left front corner of the engine compartment. Detach the refrigerant lines from it, cap them, and remove the A/C accumulator. Cap the open fittings to avoid dirt and moisture. Install new O-rings on the lines, lubricate with refrigerant oil, and reinstall the A/C accumulator. Ensure correct inlet and outlet connections. If a new A/C accumulator is installed, add 20 cc of refrigerant oil. Have the system evacuated, charged, and leak tested by the discharging shop.

Have the refrigerant discharged and recovered by an air conditioning technician. Remove the grille. Disconnect the refrigerant lines from the A/C accumulator and cap the open fittings to prevent entry of moisture. After the system has been discharged, detach the two refrigerant lines from the top of the A/C accumulator and cap them. Loosen the pinch bolt or bracket mounting bolts, whichever is easier to get a wrench on, and remove the A/C accumulator. Installation is the reverse of removal. Have the system evacuated, charged and leak tested by the shop that discharged it. If the A/C accumulator was replaced, have them add new refrigeration oil to the compressor, about 0.7 ounces for R-12 systems, or 0.34 ounces for R-134a systems. Use only the refrigerant oil compatible with the refrigerant of your system (R-12 vs. R-134a).
