On models equipped with power windows and door locks, disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal, ensuring that the lockout feature of the anti-theft audio system is turned off before disconnecting the battery. Remove the door trim panel and water shield, followed by the door glass. For manual window regulators on T100 and Tacoma models, remove the five retaining bolts located above the service hole and around the regulator handle. For power window regulators, unplug the electrical connector and remove the six retaining bolts, except for the 4Runner rear door, where the door latch and outside handle must first be removed. After unplugging the electrical connector, remove the four regulator retaining bolts and pull out the regulator assembly. Installation is the reverse of removal; lubricate all regulator rollers with multipurpose grease and ensure all fasteners are tightened securely.
