Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal, then raise the vehicle and place it securely on jackstands. Remove the engine undercover if equipped. For V6 models, remove the alternator, then take out the bolt securing the air conditioning suction line at the front of the engine, disconnect the electrical connector from the air conditioning compressor, and unbolt the compressor without disconnecting the air conditioning hoses. Move the compressor aside and support it with wire or rope. Disconnect the CKP sensor electrical connector located at the front lower left corner of the engine by sliding the white plastic lock to the rear and pulling off the connector, then remove the CKP sensor retaining bolt. Installation is the reverse of removal, ensuring the CKP sensor retaining bolt is tightened securely. For four-cylinder models, locate the CKP sensor at the front lower left corner of the engine beneath the air conditioning compressor mounting bracket. Remove the air conditioning compressor and the compressor mounting bracket, then locate and disconnect the CKP sensor electrical connector found in front of the intake manifold. Raise the vehicle and place it securely on jackstands, unbolt the air conditioning compressor without disconnecting the refrigerant lines, and support it with wire or rope. Remove the five bolts securing the air conditioning compressor mounting bracket and the drivebelt idler pulley as a single assembly. Remove the CKP sensor retaining bolt and the CKP sensor, discarding the old O-ring and using a new one for installation. Finally, installation is the reverse of removal, ensuring the CKP sensor retaining bolt is tightened securely.

On V6 models, there are two CMP sensors located on the inside walls of the cylinder heads, adjacent to the timing rotor installed on the front of each Variable Valve Timing-intelligent (VVT-i) controller. For four-cylinder models, the CMP sensor is positioned on the front of the cylinder head, adjacent to the intake camshaft timing belt sprocket. Begin by disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal. Next, remove the accessory drivebelt. Disconnect the CMP sensor electrical connector by depressing the release tab and then removing the connector, followed by the removal of the sensor retaining bolt. After that, remove and discard the old CMP sensor O-ring. Installation is the reverse of removal, ensuring that the CMP sensor retaining bolt and stud are tightened securely.

The CMP sensor is located on the front of the left cylinder head, adjacent to the intake camshaft timing belt sprocket.
