For V8 engines, including 4.7L (2UZ-FE) engines, start by loosening the right front wheel lug nuts and raising the front of the vehicle on jackstands. Remove the wheel and engine under-cover, and then remove the plastic clips from the rubber seal on the right front inner fender well splash shield. Remove the power steering pump and alternator, followed by the engine oil dipstick tube bracket bolt and dipstick tube from the oil pan. Disconnect the right side exhaust pipe from the manifold and remove the right side exhaust manifold. Remove the starter motor heat shield mounting bolts and shield. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the starter motor/solenoid assembly and remove the starter motor by taking out the mounting bolts. The installation process is the reverse of removal.

In VB models with 4.7L (2UZ-FE) engines, the starter is located on top of the engine between the cylinder heads, underneath the upper intake manifold. To remove it, you will need to remove the upper intake manifold.
