When you apply pressure to the EGR valve diaphragm, you should be able to push the diaphragm up into the housing easily with finger pressure.

Before checking the EGA valve, it is important to inspect all vacuum hoses in the system to ensure they are properly attached and in good condition. Any cracked or damaged hoses should be replaced.

If the EGR valve diaphragm is immovable or difficult to move, it's time to replace the EGR valve with a new one.

At low engine temperatures, the VSV and EGA valves are shut, preventing exhaust gas recirculation. As engine temperatures rise, the VSV opens. When the throttle valve is sufficiently opened to expose the EGA port and the pressure in the EGA valve is low, the pressure increases, closing the modulator and opening the EGA valve. This process continues with pressure fluctuations that control the opening and closing of the EGA valve based on various factors like coolant temperature and exhaust gas pressure.
