This system is fitted to models from 2010 and newer to minimize the output of NOx; exhaust gas is directed to the intake manifold through the EGR valve and decreasing combustion temperature as a result. The EGR system includes the EGR valve, the EGR cooler assembly, hoses, the ECM, and the wiring harnesses; the ECM regulates the working of the EGR valve. To get to the EGR valve and its cooler, it's necessary first to remove the windshield wiper motor and the linkage, and then the cowl top panel. Some engine coolant and air filter housing have to be drained. Subsequently, remove the two wiring harness clamps off the EGR tube and the wiring harness support bracket, then the EGR tube gasket, and finally the EGR tube. Remove the four coolant hoses from the EGR cooler and remove also the wiring along with the wiring harness clamps from the EGR valve. Last but not the least is to unscrew the mounting bolts to pull off the EGR valve and cooler assembly, parting the EGR valve with the cooler. It is an opposite process to removal with specific focus on replacing of all gaskets.
