Park the vehicle with the front wheels pointed straight ahead and the steering wheel centered. Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Disable the airbag system. Pry out the two small covers, one on each side of the steering wheel, and loosen the two Torx screws that retain the airbag module. Back out the screws until the grooves along the screw circumferences catch on the screw cases. Lift the airbag module off the steering wheel and disconnect the airbag connector. Unplug any other electrical connectors, such as the one for the horn. Remove the steering wheel retaining nut and mark the position of the steering wheel to the shaft, if marks don't already exist or don't line up. Use a puller to detach the steering wheel from the shaft. Don't hammer on the shaft to dislodge the wheel. Remove the steering column covers. Make sure the spiral cable is centered. Verify that the front wheels are pointing straight ahead. Turn the spiral cable housing counterclockwise by hand until it becomes hard to turn. Turn the spiral cable clockwise about 2-1/2 turns and align the marks. If it's necessary to remove the spiral cable from the combination switch, disengage the retaining clips, follow the wiring harness down the steering column and disconnect the electrical connector, then remove the spiral cable unit. To install the wheel, align the mark on the steering wheel hub with the mark on the shaft and slide the wheel onto the shaft. Install the nut and tighten it. Installation is otherwise the reverse of removal.
