How to Remove and Install a Rear Axle Shaft for the 2008 Toyota Tundra?

After loosening the rear tire lugnuts, lift the back of the car and hold it securely on jackstands placed under the frame, not under the axle. Set jackstands on either side of the vehicle in the front to stop it from moving and take off both rear wheels. Place your jack underneath the rear axle differential housing. Take out the driveshaft from the differential, set it aside, and hold it in place with wire from under the car. Pull the height sensing spring that connects to the axle loading circuit and bypass valve. Pull out all brake tubes and lines that connect to the axle housing and cover their ends to keep fluids from leaking. Remove the rear brake assemblies. Take the parking brake cables away from the braking assemblies, and pull the cables off of the rear axle housing. Detach the vent hose from the axle housing. Free the shock absorbers either from the spring seats or from their spots at the axle. Unscrew the bolts from the leaf spring, take off the spacer, dampers and spring holders. Lower the jack under the diff, pull the entire rear axle and diff from under the car. You must tighten all suspension pieces to fix it. To put the Sequoia's springs back in position, first tighten the four bolts at the front end, then the two bolts at the back. On Tundra models, bleed the brakes.
