About Toyota Pitman Arm
The Pitman Arm is basically a small lever arm that's splinted to your steering gear's cross shaft. As you turn your steering wheel, the Pitman Arm transmits that rotational motion from your cross shaft to the steering linkage. So once the Pitman Arm transmits motion to your steering linkage, the wheels would move according to the direction of your steering wheel's movement. Now if you've got a bad or broken Pitman Arm, you'll eventually experience a bad play on your car's steering.
