- Q: How do you remove and install the door latch, handle and key lock cylinder on Toyota T100?A: On models equipped with power windows and door locks, disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal, ensuring that the lockout feature of the anti-theft audio system is turned off before disconnecting the battery. Remove the door trim panel and the plastic water shield. Using a flashlight, note how the control rods are connected to the door latch, then disengage the link(s) from the lock. For models with power door locks, unplug the electrical connector from the door latch. Remove the latch retaining screws to detach the latch assembly from the door and then remove the latch assembly. Installation is the reverse of removal, ensuring the screws are tightened securely. Note how the control rods are connected to the outside door handle and the key lock cylinder, then disconnect them, as models with power door locks have only one control rod. Remove the outside handle/key lock cylinder retaining bolts after removing the small access plug, then detach the handle from the door. Installation is the reverse of removal, with bolts tightened securely. For Tacoma and 4Runner models, the inside door handle is part of the door trim panel removal procedure, while for T100 models, simply remove the inside handle retaining bolts and disconnect the latch control rod from the back of the handle.
