Carefully lift the compressed spring from the assembly, ensuring to keep the ends of the spring pointed away from your body, and set it in a safe place.

1. Remove the rear seat back framework. 2. Remove the right side trim panel (requires removal of the luggage tie-down striker, two bolts, and eight clips). 3. Unclip the three retainers and remove the battery cooling duct. 4. Remove the high-voltage battery reinforcement to access the left side shock upper mounting fasteners. 5. Put a jack (with a wood block on top) under the center of the rear axle to support it. 6. Remove the upper three fasteners from the shock absorber. 7. Remove the nut and washers from the lower mounts and guide the shocks out.
