    Q:
How to remove, inspect, and install Oil Pump in V6 engine on Toyota Sequoia? Posted by Customer
    A:
Before removing the timing chain cover, using a 4mm Allen-key, you will have to take out the oil pipe mounting bolts and the pipe itself; the two O-rings in it need to be changed. Then let out the bolts of the oil pump cover and the cover itself, then the pump drive rotor and the driven rotor. Then you should remove the OP cap, oil pressure relief plug, valve spring and the valve from the oil pump cover. Remove and clean all component with solvent and check for signs of wear and damage, that the oiled relief valve floats freely in it's bore. Examine the contact area of the oil pressure relief valve and the valve spring; if any is worn out, it has to be replaced together with the other one. Using a feeler gauge, check and record the clearance of the driven rotor-to-body, rotor side, and rotor tip and verify if it comforms to the specifications. Remove the old crankshaft seal from the timing chain cover, cover the OUTER RACE of the new crank seal with the Multi Purpose grease or engine oil and gently install the CRANK SEAL into theTiming Chain Cover using the above-mentioned palm of your hand. Grease the seal lip of the chain cover and put petroleum jelly on the pump drive and the driven rotors before placing them into the timing chain cover with their marks at the outside. Petroleum jelly should be packed tightly in the pump cavity to enhance priming, place the cover and tighten the cover bolts to manufacturers' recommended torque. Coat the oil pressure relief valve with clean engine oil, then thread the valve and the spring into the pump cover, finally, screwing the plug and tightening it to the right torque. Last, fit the timing chain cover, undo the processes above with the rest of other fittings, add oil, fit another filter, and start the car to check whether there is any leakage.
