Toyota Sienna Oil Pan Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to remove and install the oil pan in 3.0L and 3.3L V6 engine on Toyota Sienna?
A: The oil pan is built up from a two part assembly, a upper aluminum casting joined with the block and transaxle, and a lower punched steel oil pan section. First remove the negative cable from the battery terminal, then how the car and suitably jack up on stands. Lay the splashes around the engine, empty the oil from the engine, and also, pull out the oil filter. Remove the catalytic converter by undoing the two bolts and support bracket securing the front exhaust pipe and the nuts that fasten the pipe to the both the front and rear exhaust manifolds. After that take out two bolts to release the flywheel housing cover, and two bolts that bolts the aluminum oil pan section to transaxle. Leverage off the ten bolts and two nuts that holds the steel oil pan section and then disengage it intelligently so as not to spoil the sealing faces. Continue to undo the oil pump strainer/pickup, and the bolts fixating the aluminum oil pan section to the block, observing that some bolts will be where the steel pan used to be. If this is required, it is possible to remove the oil pan baffle plate. When installing, first scrape off all old sealant from the block and the oil pan, using a scraper, and wipe the contact surfaces with lacquer thinner or acetone. See that the holes of the threaded bolts that bolt to the block are clear and examine the flange of the steel pan section for that it is not twisted and then you flattening it also. Next, if the baffle was reported, replace it to its rightful place and then clean the mating surfaces of the engine block and aluminum pan section gently. When using the RTV sealant, ensure that the same is done on the top grooves of the aluminum pan section and the same should be fitted within a maximum of five minutes after application of the sealant Tightening of the bolts should progressively be done from the center to the outer end. Check the condition of oil pump pick-up / strainer if removed and cleaned, and properly installed with a new gasket, tightening the fasteners. Spread a 3 to 4 mm wide strip of RTV sealant from the flange of the steel oil pan section towards the center, subject to the installation of the section within 5 minutes of applying the sealant. Fit the steel pan on the aluminum section it is preferable to install bolts where they are to be tightened starting at the center and working out. Recover the removed parts and follow the process in the reverse method, put new oil and also ensure that you fit a new oil filter. Last, turn the engine so as to examine for oil pressure plus oil leaks.
