The brake light switch is on the brake pedal bracket, under the steering column panel. It controls the brake light circuit. If brake lights fail, check the fuse and bulbs first. If they're okay, check the switch's voltage. No voltage indicates an open circuit between the fuse block and switch. To replace, remove the panel, unplug the connector, rotate the switch counterclockwise, and remove. Install in reverse order.

First of all, pedal height refers to the brake pedal's distance from the floor. If it's not within the specified range, inspect the brake pedal, pedal arm, mounting bracket, and dash panel for damage. Adjust the brake light switch if necessary. To measure pedal height, start the engine, press the accelerator, and measure with the carpet pulled back and the pedal pad removed. Pedal free-play is the slack before the brake system is engaged. If incorrect, adjust the brake light switch or check the brake system. Pedal reserve height is the pedal's distance from the floor when fully depressed.

Rotate the switch counterclockwise about a 1/4 turn to remove the switch from the bracket.
